Percussion

Ars Ludi is a modular percussion ensemble which, from its birth in 1987 has undertaken an artistic way active on two interpretational aspects. Firstly the proposal of the contemporary repertoire for percussion thas has been achieved by an international concert activity (Usa, Mexico, Germany, China, Sweden, France, Spain, Malta, Greece, Turkey, Algeria, Kenya, Scotland and Switzerland) performing music by composers as J. Cage, K. Stockhausen, B. Bartok, G. Battistelli, L. Andriessen, E. Varese, S. Reich, W. Duckworth, A. Curran, G. Scelsi, L. Berio, V. Heyn, and boosting, trough commissions and premières, the italian contemporary repertoire.
On another side Ars Ludi’s activity has been typified by the conception and the achievement of broadest musical productions involving artists coming from multimedia. These include events like: Drumming, Electric Counterpoint eTehillim by S. Reich, Inanna’s descent by L. Andriessen, Land im Klang by A.Curran, Tetralogia del Sogno e del Dolore dedicated to W. Herzog and Popol Vuh’s
music, Aphrodite by G. Battistelli, Deserts e Ionisation by E. Varese.

Gianluca Ruggeri, Antonio Caggiano and Rodolfo Rossi are the former members of the ensemble and they respectively teach percussion in Rome and Latina Conservatory of Music.
