He studied piano with masters Nardi, Rosati and Frugoni, composition with Donatoni, chamber music with Rossi, Brengola and Meunier; he completed his studies at the Florence Conservatory and perfected them at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. Winner in 1976 at the Italian Conservatories of 49 chairs of Main Piano, Complementary, Theory and Solfeggio, Chamber Music, Reading Musical Score and Harmony and Analysis, he has been full professor of Main Piano from 1976 to 1979 at the Conservatories of Bologna and Cesena and from 1980 to 2014 at the Conservatory “Morlacchi” of Perugia where, from 2004 to 2014, he was also professor of other disciplines (Executive Practice, Chamber Music, Repertoire for piano 4 hands and 2 pianos, Composition and Improvisation in the field of the Academic Diploma Courses – 1st and 2nd Level Degree).

He created and realized new shows (“The Testament of Heiligenstadt”, “Music poetry and word in time”, “Monologues”, “Der Wanderer”, “Don Giovanni” – (from Mozart), “The pointing finger”, “L ‘Siege’) collaborating with famous actors like Arnoldo Foà, Nando Gazzolo, Giulio Bosetti, Riccardo Cucciolla, Andrea Giordana, Massimo Wertmuller, Uberto Kovacevich, Lucrezia Lante della Rovere).

He recorded for the RCA, Charleston, Xerces, Naxos, including the integral of Bach’s “Art of Fugue” and some first world recordings of works of the nineteenth, twentieth century and contemporary.

He is often invited by Academies and Universities of Europe, United States, South America, Japan (New York University, University of Montevideo, Barranquilla, Manchester, Brooklyn, “Crete Festivals”) to hold Master Classes, Seminars, Piano Interpretation Courses, Conducting, Theory, Analysis, Composition and Improvisation and to be part of the Juries of prestigious Competitions (“G. Enesco” Composition Competition in New York, “European Music Award”, “Guido Monaco World Competition”, “Concorso di Composizione” of Siena with Luciano Berio President, he was President of the Jury in the context of the National Competition for Italian Conservatories – Turin 1992-1995).

He has been Artistic Director of 6 Editions of the Italian Music Week in New York (1984-1989), 4 International Festivals Cipam in Sargiano (1978-1981), 6 “International Seminars” of Chiusi della Verna (1982-1987), 2 editions of “Abella Festival” (1989-1990), 2 editions “From Mediterranean in the Caribbean “(Uruguay 1998-99), 10 editions of ” Musicians for the 3rd Millennium “ (2002-2011), 14 editions of the “Gori Prize” (Sarteano 1998-2011), 32 editions of the “Festival Cipam” (1978-2009), Competition “Security notes” (Perugia and Terni 2013), 16 editions of the “Music Festival” in Arezzo (1997-2011).

He is the author of symphonic, chamber and didactic compositions: “Touring Club, where to go on holiday” for 3 actors and ensemble – N.Y. University (Carnegie Hall – 1988), “Hiroshima suite” for piano strings and timpani – Spring-Festival of St. Petersburg, “Montevideo Guitar Concert” (2007) for guitar and orchestra, “Icaro’s Flight” for piano reciting voice and wind quintet (Carnegie Hall in New York), “Etesios Ethos” for violin, clarinet and piano, Suite for 2 flutists, “4 Fragments” for guitar, “3 Inventions dodecajazz” for piano, “Res” for piano and tape, “Self – Service – Album” for various tools, “Red Book” (100 pieces for educational use), “In The Life’s Seasons” for piano, tape and orchestra, ”The Siege” for soloists, groups, chorus and orchestra, “American Suite” for piano and orchestra, “Tempest” for piano and tape.

Numerous are his transcriptions and elaborations of music by Bach, Beethoven, Weber, Marcello and others including Liszt’s Legend No. 2 for solo piano, elaborated for piano and chorus orchestra (2010) and some cadences for concerts for piano and orchestra.

In the years 1985 and 1987 he was awarded in New York with the “Award” and “Ad honorem” from the New York University, from the Aiasm and the American New Music Consortium. In 2004 he was appointed Principal Conductor of the Kammerorchester Serenade Salzburg, in 2008 he received the “K.O.S.S. Musicalischer, original and innovative work “for the opera “Touring Club, where to go on holiday” for 2 actors and ensemble.
