Marcello Mazzoni was born in Reggio Emilia and started his piano studies in the local musical institute “Achille Peri”. He graduated at the Monteverdi’s Conservatory in Bolzano and continued his intensive studies at the Imola Academy with renowned professors and concertists such as F. Scala, L. Berman, A. Lonquich, R. Risaliti, L. Lortie, J. Achucarro and P. Rattalino. He also attended the Masterclasses of some of the most famous musicians of our time (S. Richter, M. Pollini, L. Lortie ecc.). Mazzoni studied composition with Armando Gentilucci and attended the faculty of Musicology in Parma University.

He has given recitals and concerts in Italy and abroad, playing with soloists such as U. Ughi, B. Huang, F. Manara, M. Fornaciari, A. Griminelli, S. Ganassi, M. Belli, O. Semchuk, O. Mandozzi, S. Korkeala, K. Weigel, E. Lawson, A Niculescu and others.

He frequently plays as a soloist with renowned ensembles including the Ensemble Berlin – Berliner Philharmoniker Soloists, the Camerata Royal Concergebow Orchestra, I Virtuosi Italiani, Wiener Concert-Verein, Savaria National Hungarian Orchestra, Orchestra Filarmónica Marchigiana, I Solisti Filarmonici Italiani  etc..

In 2016 Marcello Mazzoni started collaborating with actor-singer Beppe Servillo for the theatre piece “Histoire du Soldat” of Stravinsky, performing in the most important Italian theatres throughout Italy.

In 2018 Marcello Mazzoni has participated in a lot of prestigious projects like the tournée of Wiener Concert-Verein with whom he performed concertos from the Mozart repertoire in Italian and European Theatres: the last date was in October at Musikverein in the Golden Serie Season.

In 2019 Marcello Mazzoni will make his debut in Bartok Saal in Budapest with the Hungarian National Orchestra with Totentanz by Franz Liszt and at the Brasov Philarmonia with the Romanian National Orchestra playing the second Concerto by Johannes Brahms.

Between 2017 and 2018, in collaboration with Limen Music, Mazzoni has recorded four CD-DVDs: the first dedicated to Liszt Noir, the second to the three sonatas for piano and violin by J. Brahms with Silvia Mazzon, the third with the complete chamber production for piano and strings by J. Brahms and the last one Mozart piano quartets with the Camerata RCO Royal Concertgebow Orchestra.

In 2013 he was named permanent member of the Steinway Artists, together with notable musicians such as Vladimir Horowitz, Martha Argerich and Maurizio Pollini.

Marcello Mazzoni is a piano teacher at the “A. Peri” Conservatory in Reggio Emilia, member of C.D.I. of Valli Teatre (Reggio Emilia), artistic director of “Incontro alla musica” season in the Cavallerizza Theatre in Reggio Emilia and the founder of the successful “Festival dei pianisti Italiani” in the same city.

The piano course held by M° Marcello Mazzoni is open regardless of nationality and age limit to pianists who intend to extend and refine the classical and piano concert repertoire.

Period
M° Mazzoni will held his session from 1st to 4th September 2019

Each student will have:
– A minimum of 3 lessons of 60 minutes, and the possibility for the students to perform in concerts organized by the San Marino International Music Summer Courses.
The selection of students who will play during the concerts is at the discretion of the teacher.

Participants and Auditors
The applicants may apply either as regular students (active participants) or as auditors (passive participants).

Registration fee
– Active Participants: € 325 including individual lessons and registration fee.
– Auditors: € 115 including participation in lessons and registration fee.

Enrollment procedure. Each student must:
– apply, using the online enrollment form
– indicate in the form the main course and the teacher he wants to study with
The secretary will send to the students the confirmation of the enrollment. Once received the confirmation, the students must pay the registration fee.
Only after receiving the payment of the registration fee the student is considered to be duly enrolled to the Piano Course
Deadline for the application: 29th August 2019

Locations
The course, the concerts and the practice rooms will be situated in different locations in the historic center of San Marino.

Attendance Certificate
The participants will receive a Participant Diploma.

Accommodation / Food
A wide network of hotels / B&B/ restaurants with special prices will be available to students and will be listed on the San Marino Artist’s website;

Observance of the regulation
The participants are personally responsible for any damage they may cause to public or private property, to persons or things, and for any injury or illness they may suffer during or outside the class or during the practice time.
The application to the course includes the acceptance of this regulation.
Any claim must refer to the text in Italian language.
Place of jurisdiction is the Republic of San Marino.
