Vincenzo Saldarelli (1946) studied classical guitar with Alvaro Company, composition with Carlo Prosperi and he took a law degree with a graduation thesis in Philosophy of law “Welfare State: right and music”.

He has written pieces for solo guitar and for various ensembles and has been awarded mentions in competitions such as the “Viotti” competition in Vercelli.

Saldarelli’s particular interest in contemporary music has brought him into frequent contact with today’s authors, many of whom have dedicated pieces to him which he has presented in world premiere at the major Festivals. His artistic experience with Goffredo Petrassi has been of special value and he has recorded Petrassi’s Suoni notturni, Nunc, Alias, Seconda Serenata-Trio.

Saldarelli has played in concerts for the most important musical institutions all over the world, with programmes which have also been dedicated to the rediscovery of original repertoires and the use of particolar instruments ( “terzina” guitar and 10 strings guitar) both as soloist and with the Trio Chitarristico Italiano, founded in 1970.

He has taught at Modena’s Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “O.Vecchi-A.Tonelli” where he was for many years also director, and holds masterclasses.

Saldarelli also has to his credit numerous revisions of works for lute and for guitar, published by Suvini Zerboni and Bèrben, a “Metodo” for Ricordi and various recordings as soloist and with the Trio Chitarristico Italiano. In 2010 was issued by Guitarmediacollection a DVD of the Trio with a repertoire ranging from Bach to Ennio Morricone, who dedicated a recent piece to the Trio.

In 2013 GuitArt published his double CD and a special issue dedicated to the 20th Century guitar “ Appunti di viaggio sulla chitarra del XX° secolo”, written by Saldarelli.
