Corso di composizione strumentale o elettronica 3-4 giugno, 23-28 luglio, concerto 31 luglio.
Progetto
Il corso di composizione è diviso in due periodi: uno online di due giorni il 3 e 4 giugno, l’altro di sei giorni dal 23 al 28 luglio per un totale di 8 giorni di lezione. Il concerto finale dei compositori è previsto per il 31 luglio.
Nel primo periodo gli studenti dovranno iniziare un brano (oppure continuarne uno già cominciato) concordando il progetto col docente.
Nelle settimane che intercorrono fra i due periodi gli studenti sono invitati a lavorare al proprio brano.
Nel secondo periodo gli studenti potranno sottoporre e sperimentare le proprie partiture con gli allievi e i docenti dei corsi di strumento del New Music Project e apportare i ritocchi necessari. Successivamente gli studenti di composizione dovranno finalizzare i brani (comprese le parti staccate se necessarie).
Gli studenti parteciperanno in modo attivo alle prove dei propri brani e verranno istruiti su come redigere in modo esaustivo le proprie partiture.
La scadenza finale per la consegna dei brani è il 28 luglio. Nel corso del lavoro gli studenti saranno invitati a inviare materiale in corso d’opera agli esecutori.
Brano da comporre
Si può comporre un brano scegliendo fra due possibilità alternative:
- brano per strumenti acustici (organico da concordare col docente);
- brano per strumento solo ed elettronica (dispositivo elettronico da concordare col docente).
L’organico strumentale acustico può utilizzare una combinazione qualsiasi dei seguenti strumenti: voce femminile, flauto, clarinetto, trombone, pianoforte e percussioni (organico dettagliato fornito agli iscritti).
Il brano non dovrebbe avere una durata superiore a di 7-8 minuti, eventuali eccezioni devono essere concordate col docente.
Presentazioni
Il docente terrà delle presentazioni su argomenti generali riguardanti la composizione e la musica esaminando opere proprie e di altri autori.
Masterclass di Mauro Lanza (29-30 luglio)
Il 29 e 30 luglio Mauro Lanza terra una masterclass di 2 giorni il cui costo è ridotto del 40% per chi è iscritto al corso di composizione. Mauro Lanza illustrerà sue opere recenti ed esaminerà individualmente il lavoro degli iscritti.
Composition course for instruments, voices or electronics
Project
The composition course is divided into two periods: a two-day online course on the 3rd and 4th of June, and a six-day face-to-face course from 23rd to 28th of July, for a total of eight days of lessons.
The composers’ final concert is scheduled on July 31st.
In the first period, students must begin a piece (or continue one they have already started) with the teacher agreement on their project.
In the weeks between the two periods, students are expected to work on their own piece.
In the second period, students will be able to submit and experiment their scores with the students and teachers of the New Music Project and make any necessary adjustments. Afterwards, the composition students will have to finalize the pieces (including parts if necessary)
The students will actively participate in the rehearsal of their pieces and will be instructed on how to write their scores thoroughly.
The final deadline to deliver the pieces is 28 July. Within the period, students will be invited to send material in progress to the performers.
Piece to be composed
Participants can compose a piece by choosing between the following two alternatives:
– piece for acoustic instruments (ensemble to be agreed with the teacher);
– piece for solo instrument and electronics (electronic devices to be agreed with the teacher).
The piece for acoustic instruments may use any combination of the following instruments: female voice, flute, clarinet, trombone, piano and percussion (detailed instruments provided to participants).
The piece should not be longer than 7-8 minutes, exceptions must be agreed by/discussed with the teacher.
Lectures
The teacher will also give lectures on general topics relating to composition and music by examining his own and other composers’ works.
Masterclass by Mauro Lanza (29-30 July)
On the 29th and 30th of July, Mauro Lanza will hold a 2-day masterclass, the cost of which is reduced by 40% for those enrolled in the composition course. Mauro Lanza will illustrate his recent works and examine individually the participants’ pieces.
