The singing course will involve work on vocal technique, based on my book “The Techniques of Singing” (Bärenreiter, 2013), with a special emphasis on the techniques required to sing contemporary music, and repertory for solo voice (no pianists will be present) from 1930 to the present. A list of over 300 works for solo voice, with information about voice type and difficulty level, can be found in my book. Each student will benefit from individual tuition in a group setting.
Afternoons will be devoted to work on improvisation and music theater. This will give voice students the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of the other members of our faculty.
Students with sufficient preparation will have the opportunity to perform in our student concert. One performer will be chosen for the cash award in performance and will be awarded a solo recital in the 2017 edition of our courses.
